Tough Tourney Spot

staked for a big game, 40 runners with top 5 paid, im a little behind pace in 8th with 12 left, short stack was something crazy like 8/2 and had folded the last 20 hands at least i figured waiting for a monster, when he shoves im thinking 50/50 on call but then another player flat calls who has me covered! tough spot!!

how do you play jacks here?

I would come over the top here and try to drive that big stack off the hand. Even if he calls, you now are really facing only one opponent because the side pot with the big stack is going to be worth more than the main pot with the short stack and with JJ you have a better than fair chance of taking the whole thing down.

I can't see the big stack having anything major here as he would have come over the top himself to isolate the all-in. His most likely holding is some sort of mid pocket pair like 88 or 99 or possibly AQ, all of which you are a favorite to.

I just shove them in at this stage, usually the big stack will have something marginal, or potentially a monster by flat calling and he wants action behind. But you got to play ur big hands strong!

So what happened then?

short stack had 55 and big stack had ace jack and i would of won at least 9k and gone into top 3...instead i busted a bit later with AQ on a ace flop...
